Abstract
Accumulating evidence suggests that developmental disorders such as apraxia/dyspraxia (developmental coordination disorder), attention defi cit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), dyslexia, and autism spectrum disorders (ASD) are conditions involving a defi ciency of long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs).1-16 Studies demonstrating the importance of sufficient docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) for brain development17 have led to the routine addition of DHA to most commercially available infant formulas.
