Gottfried Kellermann, Ph.D. founded NeuroScience, Inc. in 1999 and currently serves as president and CEO. Dr. Kellermann is considered a foremost authority in the assessment and treatment of neurotransmitter-related health concerns. Over the last ten years his focus has been primarily on innovative ways to combine Neurology, Endocrinology, and Immunology to solve complex clinical conditions.

Dr. Kellermann studied at the University of Munich and University of Frankfurt, and received his Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University Mainz (Germany). He served as a Research Fellow in Human Genetics and Biochemistry at the University of Texas in Houston at the M.D. Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute, and was an assistant professor at the Wisconsin Clinical Cancer Center in Madison, Wisconsin. After approximately 10 years working in an academic setting Dr. Kellermann realized the desire to develop his novel ideas in a different environment. He began by working in the biotechnology field focusing on projects such as the development of animal vaccines, and development and marketing of assays for autoimmune diseases.

The early years of NeuroScience were marked by the development of novel assays to measure neurotransmitters in the urine and to explore their biomarker function for various clinical conditions. In the course of Dr. Kellermann’s research on neurotransmitters as biomarkers he found considerable variation of certain neurotransmitters among healthy subjects and patients. Understanding this variation, he discovered that a number of abnormal neurotransmitter levels were caused by underlying immune issues. This concept was backed by research findings in animals.

Dr. Kellermann then turned his attention to immunology and began to determine where the immune system fit into this complex picture of overall health. This endeavor made evident the fact that the nervous system is not a separate entity, but tied in closely with the neural and endocrine systems. This realization and subsequent research allowed Dr. Kellermann to become an authority on innovative ways to relate Neurology, Endocrinology, and Immunology to solve complex clinical conditions.
